As we enter February it’s a good time to reflect on everything book related that happened in January. Last month, there were just four books on my list to read, this month there are eleven. Last month I hadn’t read any books, now I have read three. I am also currently reading one book (and working my way through The Daily Stoic).

Last week, I attended a Guardian Live Book Club with George Saunders. I’ll confess, I hadn’t heard of him until I saw the event. I bought the book Lincoln in the Bardo and started reading shortly before the book club meeting. The event itself was brilliant, with George an absolute delight to listen to. I will write more about this when I write the review of the book next week.
In February, there is a Guardian Live book club with Margaret Atwood, so I’m really looking forward to that one. I find her work both interesting and bizarre. However, the reviews I have read about Oryx and Crake haven’t been all that glowing, nevertheless I am still looking forward to reading it.
In January I read:
- All the Beautiful Lies by Peter Swanson – Read the review
- Love After Love by Alex Hourston – Read the review
- Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders

I wish I read like you! I’m still reading Ant Middleton’s biography and I have a few medically ones to read when that one is finished!!
Sometimes, I get stuck on a book for what seems like forever. I’m such an inconsistent reader.
I need some reading inspiration badly. I might give the Margaret Atwood book a go thanks for the inspiration!
It’s a pleasure. I’m looking forward to trying it out to be honest.
There are some good picks here I like the sound of your January reads, beautiful lies and Love After Love. I will be popping these on mine and the hubbys must red list xx
I hope you enjoy them… They served the purpose for me.
I feel like I haven’t read anything in ages. I don’t make the time for it and that must change. Sounds like you’ve had some good reads
Reading, for me, is so valuable. It’s the best antidote to a stressful day.
I love reading. I have read 5 books this month, lower then I was hoping to. Love the sound of the Peter Swanson one, will have to pick that up
Wow… I aim for three a month because I know it may not always be possible.
I’m interested in the Untamed one, heard a lot about that one
Untamed is definitely one I’m looking forward to this month.
I read ‘Kismet’. It’s about a dating app but it was a lot less chick lit than I thought. The protagonist was female but it was written by a man. I always find that interesting.
I might have to add that to my list. 🙂
I have been reading a lot of books on investing as its something I needed to educate myself more on.
That sounds good… Do you feel like you have learned anything?
